I have asthma. I got pneumonia in Oct and again in December. Since then i have had worsening oxygen levels. I went to the Dr. twice telling him i couldn't breathe, even with inhalers. Got breathing treatments when ut showed my O2 was in low 80s, and was sent on my way. Since October i have had 6 rounds of prednisone, 3 rounds of antibiotics, tried different inhalers, etc. I can't get my oxygen up. It stays in the upper 80s at rest. It drops in the 60s or 50s when moving. Finally got the doctor listening when i filled out a survey and told him i am falling asleep all day long and am afraid of falling asleepwhile driving. Had an ekg-fine. Had chest xrays-fine. Had echocardiogram, but they want to redo it this week, never got results, and last Thursday had a sleep study. The minute i walked in they saw i couldn't breathe, checked my Oxygen, it was 63, and put me on oxygen. They were shocked I am not on oxygen. I am too. The more i read, the more scared i get. I have the echocardiogram on Tuesday, but won't see my doctor (as far as i know since I didn't see him last time). Can i buy it on my own? I am to the point my house is a wreck, i get groceries delivered, etc. I am still working, but for how long? And, since Jan have spent $1400 on all this. My deductible, before insurance kicks in is $3,500. It did pay for the sleep study which was $2,600. Thank God for that. Help please! PS:my asthma is currently under medium control with only 2 to 4 coughing episodes a day. I was coughing so much i was using my rescue inhaler 20+ times a day.
