O2VERLAP Study

Did you know that about 60% of people with both COPD and obstructive sleep apnea (known as “Overlap Syndrome”) are not using their continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mask as prescribed? This is dangerous because it creates an increased risk for flare-ups and hospitalizations.

The COPD Foundation and American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) wanted to know if an interactive online classroom will help people living with Overlap Syndrome use their sleep masks properly. The COPD Foundation's COPD360coach platform was used to deploy the online classes, monitor participant progress and provide support.

The COPD Foundation has been partnering with the American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA) to conduct the O2verlap study, which analyzes the sleep patterns of people with both COPD and obstructive sleep apnea. The Thursday, November 21, 2019 webinar, provides an overview of where the study is and lessons learned throughout the process.

What is the purpose of the O2VERLAP study?

The COPD Foundation and ASAA want to know if our interactive online classroom will help people with Overlap Syndrome use their CPAP therapy as prescribed. We would like to help you feel more comfortable using your sleep apnea mask every night!

Who is the American Sleep Apnea Association (ASAA)?

Founded in 1990, the ASAA is a patient-led non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sleep health through research, advocacy and education. To learn more about the ASAA, please visit www.sleepapnea.org.
