Share Your Patient Experience
You can get involved in our EL-PFDD meeting, where the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will be in attendance. Join us to share your firsthand experience with COPD to help inform the people who research, develop, evaluate, and approve COPD therapies and medications.
COPD Voices: Our Breath, Our Future
If you’re interested in sharing your perspective on what it’s like to live with COPD to help inform research, sign up today to receive future communications to get involved.
“COPD Voices” gives people living with COPD and their caregivers a rare chance to be heard by the FDA, doctors, researchers, and life science companies. By sharing your experience, you can help drive patient-centered innovations in COPD treatment and disease management.
We want to hear from you at a special meeting called an Externally-led Patient-Focused Drug Development (EL-PFDD) meeting on COPD that will take place virtually on July 21, 2027. Even if you cannot attend the meeting, there will be additional opportunities to share your feedback through a survey and more.
Externally-led Patient Focused Drug Development for COPD
EL-PFDD meetings are hosted by patient organizations and provide an opportunity for the FDA to more systematically obtain the patient perspective on specific diseases and their treatments. The patient perspective is critical in helping FDA understand the context in which regulatory decisions are made for new drugs. EL-PFDD meetings give FDA and other key stakeholders, including medical product developers, health care providers, federal partners, an important opportunity to hear directly from patients, their families, caregivers, and patient advocates about the symptoms that matter most to them, the impact the disease has on patients’ daily lives, and patients’ experiences with currently available treatments.
By incorporating patients’ lived experiences, treatment goals, and challenges, EL-PFDD meetings help ensure that new therapies are developed and evaluated with a deeper understanding of what matters most to the people who use them.
The result of this meeting will be a Voice of the Patient report that provides the public with helpful information to further research, develop, evaluate, and approve COPD therapies and medications. Learn more about the FDA’s PFDD efforts.
