Lace Up for Lungs Challenge

Lace-Up For Lungs

November is COPD Awareness Month, and we need your help! Each fall, the COPD Foundation and the lung health community celebrate by raising awareness and critical funds for chronic lung diseases like COPD, bronchiectasis, and nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) lung disease and encouraging early diagnosis.

There are many creative ways you can get involved with this year's efforts. When you become a Lung Health Champion this fall, you're contributing to research, early diagnosis, and supporting educational efforts - all while advocating for and supporting individuals living with chronic lung disease and their families.

Alone we are one voice, but together, we are the COPD community and champions on a mission to raise awareness. Read on to discover how you can join Lace-Up for Lungs!

Here are some ways you can become a Lung Health Champion during COPD Awareness Month:

  • Join the Lace Up for Lungs Challenge: We're challenging our community to get moving for 30 minutes every day in November. When you join the Lace Up for Lungs Challenge, you'll start a Facebook fundraiser, invite your friends to donate and join, and post your progress in the Facebook support group. Join the Facebook group and get started.
  • Create a DIY Fundraiser. Support chronic lung health your way. Get creative with your own passions like hosting a bake sale, exercise challenge, backyard BBQ, or pickleball tournament. Learn more about DIY fundraising options. Get started on your DIY Fundraiser.
  • Share on Social Media. Find resources, images, printable signs, sample posts, links, and more in this social media toolkit!
  • Light the Night Orange for COPD. This year, we want Lung Health Champions across the nation to light their city halls, bridges, and other local official buildings orange during the month of November. To get started, visit your local government's website, look for a commemorative lighting request form, and pick any day in November. You can also call or email city officials with your request.
  • Wear Orange for COPD Awareness Day. November 15 is COPD Awareness Day and Wear Orange Day! You can wear orange and invite your friends, families, co-workers, church members, or other connections to join you. Take a picture of your orange outfit and share it on social media. Make sure you tag the COPD Foundation and use hashtags such as #COPDAwarenessMonth, #LaceUpForLungs, #LungHealthChampions, and/or #COPDChampions.
