My father went to see a pulmonologist and he is scheduled for a biopsy next Thursday. He had an X-Ray and CT scan with contrast done. The report said he has a 7 cm mass on his upper left lung. Is this always cancer or can it be something else? He was a smoker for the past 30 years. He has been having a persistent cough for the last 3 months, however he hasn't smoked in 24 hours, and I noticed his coughing drastically reduced. Can it be something else?
