Can COPD be diagnosed by only CT Scan?

Shortness of breath. Smoker 35 years. CT Scan in ER. Diagnosed exacerbation of COPD. No further testing. Was on oxygen for three days and treated for Flu. No issues at present time. Stopped smoking. I feel for anyone that has this disease.
