I was recently diagnosed with moderate to severe COPD at 28 years old. The past few nights, I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night and feeling pressure in my left breast. Feeling there, it’s as if my ribs have moved or at the very least, are not symmetrical with the right side. After a couple of pursed lip breaths, things are back to normal and I’m able to fall back asleep. CT from late July came back clean. Pulmonologist said my lungs sounded fine back in May. This sleep behavior started happening a couple days ago. Prior, I would wake in the morning with chest discomfort on occasion. I suspect an exacerbation, but since I was recently diagnosed, I’m still learning and am unsure of how to recognize exacerbations. I thought I was getting sick a couple weeks ago so that might explain. I informed my pulmonologist of the sleep issue and other details a couple days ago and still waiting an answer on the sleep part. I do use an overnight pulse oximeter and it claims my oxygen is between 90 and 99 during sleep. Are there any recommendations for what I can do to alleviate the pressure during sleep?
