New COPD Med
It's one of two three-in-one meds available; the other is Trelegy. They work well for some people; for others, not so much. It's been around for several years, but it is one of the newest combinations we've seen.

PFT findings -air trapping, any comments?
Thanks for checking in Wildebeest! And Karina, thanks also - it sounds like your situation PFT wise (age, mild obstruction, food DLCO and significant air trapping) is very similar to my own. Good to know you've turned a corner in terms of your symptoms, long may it continue. Keen to share my findings from the appointment last week - but strap in, because my mind was somewhat blown from how different the session was vs my expectations, and I'm about to get philosophical. So with 3 Spirometry tests at 66-68 FEV/FVC and significant air trapping, I fully expected to receive a COPD diagnosis and a chat about management, etc. I should preface this by saying: - Firstly, I do suffer health based anxiety. Family members have been telling me to 'stay off Google' - this in fairness would I guess include (in their opinion) this forum, though I obviously believe the forum to have a wealth of good information and benefits. But the view of the outsider is something like 'you don't have a diagnosis, much of the online info is doom and gloom, do your anxiety a favour and get the official word rather than coming to your own conclusions'. Secondly, the Respiratory consultant I saw is experienced, practicing for 16 years and whilst specialising in ILD in particular, very experienced in dealing with COPD also. She saw all 3 sets of results including the full PFT and also my CT angiogram, other medical history etc. In a nutshell, she said based on my CT there is no evidence of emphysema, no evidence of bronchial thickening - so structurally my lungs are fine. PFT-wise, I'm transferring oxygen well, and though there is slight obstruction, the FEV value in isolation is 98% predicted, and she said my lung function is 'normal'. Since my symptoms have recently become much worse, she said she is practically certain that 90% of this is due to a 'breathing pattern disorder' rather than damage to my lungs - also that my lung volume, rather than being a result of hyperinflation (no evidence of this on the CT apparently either), is just that I have big lungs (I have always had a large chest). Obviously, this raises a number of questions. I asked her at one point 'would you say then that I DON'T have COPD?' Her response was 'I can see no evidence of it. This goes in the face of everything I've read online which says <0.7 fev1 = copd, and also comments from spirometry testers (who i drilled) saying things like 'your chest is quite tight'. so she says i do have mild obstruction, but based on the whole, picture, physical exam etc, that it shouldnt be giving me a major problem and i need to go to s breathing physio in order to 'retrain' myself to breathe correctly rather than breathing from the top of my lungs, something that could be anxiety related. she also recommended that i do a pulmonary exercise test to get more detail and look into the … fev1="COPD," and="" also="" comments="" from="" spirometry="" testers="" (who="" i="" drilled)="" saying="" things="" like="" 'your="" chest="" is="" quite="" tight'.="" so="" she="" says="" i="" do="" have="" mild="" obstruction,="" but="" based="" on="" the="" whole,="" picture,="" physical="" exam="" etc,="" that="" it="" shouldnt="" be="" giving="" me="" a="" major="" problem="" and="" i="" need="" to="" go="" to="" s="" breathing="" physio="" in="" order="" to="" 'retrain'="" myself="" to="" breathe="" correctly="" rather="" than="" breathing="" from="" the="" top="" of="" my="" lungs,="" something="" that="" could="" be="" anxiety="" related.="" she="" also="" recommended="" that="" i="" do="" a="" pulmonary="" exercise="" test="" to="" get="" more="" detail="" and="" look="" into="" the="">0.7 fev1 = copd, and also comments from spirometry testers (who i drilled) saying things like 'your chest is quite tight'. so she says i do have mild obstruction, but based on the whole, picture, physical exam etc, that it shouldnt be giving me a major problem and i need to go to s breathing physio in order to 'retrain' myself to breathe correctly rather than breathing from the top of my lungs, something that could be anxiety related. she also recommended that i do a pulmonary exercise test to get more detail and look into the …>
