Pulmonologist has suggested a trial of Montelukast/Singulair to see if it helps with my severe exercise intolerance caused mainly by dynamic hyperinflation.
I have discovered the drug comes with a black box warning about possible psychiatric side effects. I already have some of these symptoms from CPTSD. Pulmonologist does not yet know about this because it did not seem relevant to discuss with him until I discovered the black box warning. Clearly I need to discuss with him now before proceeding with any trial.
But does anyone have any experience of taking this drug and getting psychiatric symptoms? Or taking it with pre-existent symptoms? I'm really trying to work out how I would know if symptoms are caused or exacerbated by the drug if I have pre-existing symptoms that are not permanent and can appear as if from nowhere.
I'm told the drug has probably a 33% chance of being helpful so I'm weighing up the risk/reward ratio for me.
