Hi there and happy holidays to all 😊
last year hubby had a collapsed lung and had the surgery to fuse lung to his chest wall. Surgery was successful and he has not had any issues till a month ago. A month ago he started feeling fatigue and muscle aches like he is sick with a flu but he doesn’t have a flu. This continued for a month till we saw his pulmonologist. Then he was prescribed prednisone and doxycycline for a week and he started to feel better after two days of taking the meds. Two weeks later he is feeling sick again with the same symptoms. We went back to his doctor and was told he possibly has sleep apnea and is causing the fatigue. We have that schedule for next month to do a sleep study. I’m concerned because my husband still feels the symptoms of fatigue and body aches almost going two months now. He usually feels good when he wakes up and does his daily chores and then after lunch he would feel sick and would take a nap. After he naps he usually feels better and continues with his day till about early evening is when he starts to feel drained and achy again. Is this exarcerbation that is just taking awhile to go back to his baseline? Is his emphysema possibly getting worst? He also has PFT scheduled in 6 months. His last PFT results showed very mild. His doctor is insisting to do a CT scan again as per FDA because he smoked for over 30 years in the past. He has stopped smoking for 4 years now. We are hesitant on getting another ct scan since they did several scans at the hospital last year when he had the collapsed lungs and the fusing of lungs to his chest wall procedure. Please help us with any thoughts or advice of how to move forward.
