I went in after having slight chest pains for the past couple months. I have smoked about a small pack a day for the past 20years. I was in the middle of quitting when I received the news of having emphysema and have completely quit since. I haven’t been able to speak to a pulmonologist yet and was basically just told by a dr who was relaying the news from the radiologist who read the scan that I have a cyst on my lungs and have emphysema and to go home. Didn’t even realize what emphysema was until I got home and hole searched that I basically have up to 5years to live. I have two young children and I’m scared out of my mind I won’t get to see them grow up. I eat fairly healthy and have started exercising about a few months ago when I initially started to quit smoking. Can anyone give me some info on what to expect and if there is a chance to live till I’m old. I have no test results other than the initial cat scan so there is not much info to give. I’m so scared I can barely function and I can’t stop crying every time I even look at my kids. So lost and this site seems to be a little more personal than what I’ve read on google
