Hi all,
I’m a 60yo female. Just been diagnosed with copd. Went to the drs for a reoccurring cough, and breathlessness after running - and they said I have copd after a spirometer (FVC 2.18, FVC1 1.48)
I’m a bit shocked. As I still run/jog every day, still take part in half marathons - I’m 28lbs overweight - so they aren’t quick times ;-). I don’t smoke - haven’t for over 30 years.
I just can’t believe the result of this test. It’s just so unexpected. I don’t have any breathing problems day-to-day. Just shocked.
I guess my question is - I don’t smoke, I exercise, I’m going to lose weight! - is there anything else I can do to help stop my copd getting worse?
Could it have just been at this level all my life? And I’ve never known?
Could I just have a lower lung capacity and not actually copd?
And basically is this going to lead to a shortened life :(
Thanks so much for anyone’s replies and help!
