It is November and there’s nothing more exciting to the COPD Foundation than COPD Awareness Month! This is the month that organizations from around the world join together to recognize and bring more awareness to COPD and the millions of people that have it. We have a lot going on over the next few weeks, so to catch many of you up and let you know how you can get involved, read on!
Get In On The Action: We are kicking off our annual Lace Up for Lungs Campaign. For this event, we want you to get active “your way” to raise awareness for COPD. Join our FB group to share photos and videos of you getting active for 30 minutes a day for 30 days in November. You can register for your free Lace Up for Lungs toolkit by clicking here and filling out a short form.
Share Your Journey: Telling your story about COPD is a great way to educate others about this lung condition. Many people have heard of COPD, but do not know what it is. We want to make sure that others are able to recognize the symptoms, get help if needed, but also know that you can live well with COPD. By sharing your own experiences, you can educate others and bring more awareness to your community.
Learn More About COPD: At the COPD Foundation, we pride ourselves in providing amazing educational materials to those living with COPD. We want you to feel your best while managing this lung condition. To help with that, we would love for you to download the free COPD Pocket Consultant Guide app! This easy-to-use app can help you set goals, learn more, and manage your COPD right from the convenience of a smartphone or tablet. We’ve worked hard to include tools such as the COPD Action plan and helpful exercise videos that you can access in the palm of your hand. If electronics aren’t your thing, we have an amazing array of printed materials such as the Guides for Better Living. Download them for free to learn more about medications, coping with COPD, oxygen, and much more. Show others that it is possible to live well with COPD!
Advocate for those with COPD: We need your help to let our lawmakers know that those with COPD need access to reasonably priced medications and health care. You can make a difference by contacting your lawmakers and letting them know about COPD and the needs of those who have it. Join the COPD Foundation’s Advocacy Action Center where we make it easy to reach out to those in our government regarding the needs of the COPD community.
I hope that you will join me this month in Lacing Up for Lungs and raising more awareness for COPD. There are 30 million people in the U.S. living with this condition. We want to make sure they know that there is access to education and support through our amazing community. Let’s tie up those orange laces and get moving for COPD!
