Hi all,
This is going to be a long post (I am so sorry but I really need some common sense advice).
I am 37 year old male,5'11 and 180 lbs.
Smoking: Started at around 21, 4-5 cigarettes per day, quit since 1 April,2017
Alcohol: Drinking alcohol daily since 3-4 years after work, quit since 1 April,2017.
Job: Sedentary, work in the IT industry
Exercise status: On and off but never regular and never a very sporty person
I started moderate exercise seriously about a month back and noticed that whenever I exercised, after 15-20 minutes I would start belching(burping) and I am not comfortable at all.
Its like till I don't burp, I cant breathe normally.
Last week, I decided to really do a proper workout and really pushed myself and after 25 minutes, I was really burping badly and facing breathing issues and I left the gym to go home and on my way back home, I was feeling that I will collapse.
I went to a doctor, a cardiologist and got all the tests done (echo, blood test, stress test etc)
During stress test, I could only last for 9 minutes at 16 % inclination (96 % of max heart rate), the doctor wondered why I was breathless and hence told me to get a PFT and chest x ray done.
During the PFT test, a junior doctor came and initially the reading was not happening properly and I had to do it again and again, leaving me feeling giddy (in fact I had to lie down couple of times)
The test results have come and no heart issues (except high HS CRP) and the doctor said, no cardio issues.
PFT said 'Mild', Obstructive and Restrictive Abnormality.
However for lung issues, he didn't mention anything and gave me a week's course of
1)Doxofylline (650 mg) ...tablet
2)Ambrolite S (Ambroxol) ....syrup.
and one medicine of anxiety and one for heart issue.
Since I have been taking these, I am feeling terrible.
I find it difficult to breathe, feel dizzy throughout the day and pain in the middle of the chest.
The chest x-ray didn't show anything.
I don't cough at all and I have never ever been out of breath, tired yes but never out of breath, I could go to a mall and walk for hours (in A/C of course) but since these meds, I can barely walk in my apartment complex without feeling anxious and uncomfortable breathing (but not breathless though).
I was wondering :
1)Should I go to a pulmonologist and get the PFT done again as I seriously doubt the earlier test ?
2)Should I also get a CT scan done too ?
I feel so anxious that I don't want to be left alone in my house and I am working from home.
In worst case scenario, will I collapse and faint ?
Thanks for reading,
Spetz
