I attended a great webinar about the future treatments of COPD. As a biology major, one of the fields that I found most interesting was genetics. Genetics will likely play a huge roll in the treatment of COPD much as it is playing a big roll in the treatment of cancer. I was fortunate enough to be in Dr. Max Ward's class the fall after he had worked as a lab assistant to Watson when Watson and Crick decoded the DNA molecule. I can remember how excited Dr. Ward was as he drew this thing that looked like a chain ladder and started placing letters on the rungs and on the chain.
