From David's answer to my question last year I guess I am having an exacerbation. The answer kind of matters because every year I get a telephone review consisting of box-ticking, and one thing they ask is how many exacerbations. At the last review I could point to 1 "proven" exacerbation because I'd had to see the doctor for antibiotics when I got green chest mucus.
However, as last year, I have again got a nondescript ailment that I think is an exacerbation. No fever. Very mildly elevated temperature. Slight sore throat - now gone. Very mild cough producing a bit of pale sputum. PEF reduced to around 270 when it's usually 290 or 300. FEV1/FVC down to 49/50% from usual 54%. FVC was heavily reduced for a while but now pulling back into usual territory. FEV1 maybe a bit reduced.
I get more SOB on exertion but not enough to make me reach for more doses of Fostair. And mostly I am not exerting because I am so utterly, utterly fatigued. I have been in bed a lot during the day and sleeping long, long hours at night.
SPO2 sats high 90s as usual. Negative for covid and flu. Tested just for the heck of it. I am vaccinated to the hilt so wondered if I might have a mild case of either. Saw a nurse for the cough - it started up several days after the fatigue. She said lungs are clear and diagnosed a virus of some sort.
This started 4 or 5 weeks ago, went away for 10 days, has now been back for a week.
So, what do we think? Is it to be added to next year's tick box as a exacerbation?
