I am (now) 25 and after struggling with breathing issues for what feels like all my life (and things like chest pain/tightness/heaviness, excess mucus, horrible acid [even at 10 years old], chronic fatigue and general breathing difficulties).. I finally went to a pulmonologist. Long story short, they did PFTs and I heard nothing from them. Never saw the report and because I thought my main phone call appointment was solely due to a followup with an inhaler (that I know i wouldnt use regular enough), I cancelled. Well, I called and got a copy of my results. I KNOW AI is debatable and not bad, but im attaching its 'analysis'. I feel like I have most all the symptoms of COPD and also asthma.. but when I brought it up to my doctor on a zoom call a month later, he quite literally laughed at me and mansplained why not. All he said was my age pretty much- nothing else. Didnt go over what different things in the test said, etc. Told me I have hyperinflation/air trapping, and probably asthma (depending how i'd feel after using the inhaler he gave to try). After one look at my throat and symptoms of acid reflux, said I had GERD and Esophagitis. Ive attached my results and chatgpts interpretation of my results. I feel like my symptoms were shrugged off from my doctor. My breathing isnt judge episodes, its pretty much all the time. Im 5'7 and 150lbs and while Im not necessarily fit, im not heavy or unable. But I get EXHAUSTED going up enough stairs, walking any size hill, sometimes I run out of breath at night, middle of the day, standing there. Dizziness, feeling like id faint. Out of breath standing there doing nothing or laying down- its whenever. I cough and hack a lot because of the mucus and feeling like I need to get something out of my throat or chest.
I just need to know if I should get a second opinion, someone that wont right me off because of my age and that I never smoked. I DID grow up my whole life in a household that smoked horribly. Im talking multiple packs a day by two people. I used to have episodes where I caught myself not breathing (while about to fall asleep), and woken up gasping for air. It wasnt common and THAT specifically has gotten better but, im not sure what to do. It also says at the bottom of my report to follow up with xray and my doctor didnt even want to bother.
