I'm guessing that most with lung disease are on Medicare for healthcare. This is how crazy Medicare screenings are. The only help is for lung cancer. They cover counseling to quit smoking. And they cover lung cancer screening by an annual CT Scan but only if you meet all criteria including only those who are a recent smoker (current or quit within 15 years) and age 55 - 77. Well that leaves me and millions out. They completely miss the #3 killer COPD leaving many millions at risk, when a dirt cheap breathing screening would let them live a pretty normal life, and not be an expensive medical burden on our health systems. They would rather pay billions in added healthcare costs than a few dollars to screen. And think of all that unnecessary suffering of individuals and their families and friends. How stupid.
