I am new here, and new to the world of oxygen concentrators.
I've read a whole lot about POC's, pulse, continuous, etc, but I still have some questions, most of them are probably weird or stupid...sorry but I am a real newbie and they just came to mind:
1) I know 1 lpm continuous is not the same as 1 lpm on a pulse flow setting. But what exactly is the difference? Is 1 lpm on a pulse "more"; will you get more saturated because there will be no loss?
2) I've read about too much oxygen causing vasoconstriction, is this also possible on a low setting of a POC? For example, what would happen if a person with SpO2 98% uses a setting of 1 lpm? Can he overdose?
3) Can you predict the effect of lpm settings on SpO2? For example, if someone has 87% and they use a POC on setting 3 LPM they'll go to 94%?
4) Do the filters on a POC prevent you from breathing in pollution?
5) Last one: will a pulse flow still give oxygen even if it doesn't detect breath? Like a continuous mode would; this would give oxygen even if you breath through mouth (exercising). Does a pulse just keep pulsing oxygen even if you don't inhale through nose?
