I was diagnosed in 2010 with COPD. Over the years I maintained my COPD the best I could. The last 2 years have been full of trials with COPD and other health combordoities. I have re engaged in my advocacy as State Captain of Pennsylvania.
As a COPD advocate I spoke at various events and videos telling my story of quitting smoking,”Together, Mom and Son Become SmokeFree”. World COPD Day has been a huge highlight at my workplace since 2018. Sending Letter to the Editors of our local newspapers and getting Proclammation for Nov. to be COPD Awareness Month.
As a COPD Foundation Captain, I hope to educate congress and others of COPD. To help others in their journey so they never feel alone.
My proudest COPD moment was being invited on behalf of COPD Foundation as the State Captain to speak at the Lung Expo 2014 in Harrisburg, Pa. Telling my story and having a standing ovavation. I made a connection when I was telling my story the standing ovation was the most rewarding experience I ever had.
I live in Middleburg; Pennsylvania. My family is my support team. My husband has been with me through it all as well as my Son. I could not have quit smoking without my son. I have a Daughter in law and 2 beautiful Grandchildren Alexander and Ember. I have a dog Gabby and 2 cats Lucy and Bella. They are what keep me brave and going strong!
My favorite quote is “I figure life’s a gift. I don’t intend on wasting it. You don’t know what hand you’re gonna get dealt with next. You learn to take Life as it comes at you. To make each day count. –Jack Dawson”
