I'd been really SOB to the point I couldn't walk down the hall. I called the PCP who usually gives an antibiotic, and prednisone dose. Since she couldn't prescribe prednisone with the corona virus, she had me take a test which was negative. That result allowed me to have a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. No pneumonia, so she called in 5, 20 mg, prednisone tablets.
The second day of the prednisone there was a tremendous change for the better. I could put in 5,000 steps with my fitbit watch with very little shortness of breath. I think this must be more of an asthma component to make such a huge difference. I have eosinophilic esophaghitis, and wonder if I have that kind of asthma along with the emphysema. The 5 tablets were well worth getting.
