hi all,
firstly, Iām pretty sure I donāt have COPD, but, Iām incredibly confused about the results and my doctors lack of explaining everything.
Iām 32, ex pack a day smoker of almost 16 years. Vaper for 2. I had a spinometry done for separate reasons (Iām having ongoing issues with gord/acid reflux that isnāt working with medication, and potentially causing breathing issues) anyway, this test was done by my gp to rule out any lung issues.
I got my results back, and everything seems good, above average even apart from one thing that my doctor said was considerably lowā¦.
my fvc was 121%
Fev1 107%
Pef 112%
With the lung function of a 21 year old
what my doctor noted as quite low were
fev1/vc 75%
fev1/fvc 72%
as far as Iām aware, 0.7 is the threshold for COPD, with that in mind, does this mean Iām at risk of developing COPD in a short space of time, if I donāt make changes (I.e exercising and obviously quitting vaping etc) or are they generally normal and something that Iām actually able to build back up/increase to improve my chances of not developing COPD (Iām still making changes, and exercising more and quitting vaping)
I hope this makes sense!
