When I go to the gym I frequently encounter other people using aerosol sprays. Some are more problematic than others. For instance, hairspray does not bother me all that much, but deodorant or scented body sprays really irk my throat and lungs. It's not practical to ask every person to desist from using them and in many cases I only realise when I hear the sprayer. If I am close to my locker I can stick my head in there to breathe relatively clean air. Today I resorted to putting my towel over my nose and breathing through that, which seemed to help. I usually try to breathe as shallowly as possible but that does not always help because I often have a sudden need for a deep breath, usually before the spray has dissipated. Does anyone have any tips for managing this?
