COPD.... just got prescription for 4L oxygen. Trying to get POC seems like having to fight with the companies. No one wants to give you any information (cost, machines, rental, insurance vs medicare). They all want to "process your prescription" before they tell you anything. I feel like they want to 'lock you in' to THEIR services......then tell you. I have been in tears today due to the frustration of trying to get information. I took the 6 min. walking test with my pulmo doc's office and now they want their respiratory person to do a walking test to see if I qualify for a POC??? Any info will be appreciated. Would it be better to wait till I get on Medicare part B? Currently have BCBS which will turn into medigap once I retire. Can't really afford to buy POC unit. Is there a way to 'try' one for a week or two before you buy a unit. If I have to buy a unit, I would like to know it would work for me. Sorry this is sooo long!
