Although I was diagnosed approx. 10 years ago at age 57, I'm hoping to learn more about COPD. Anyway, up until 3 weeks ago and for approx. 4-5 years, I was using Spiriva Respimat and Flixotide (Flovent) and Albuterol when needed. I recently fought off a pretty nasty cold/flu and as I was just about back to normal, but still some very minor wheezing from the cold, my Primary Care Physician changed my scrip from Fixodent to Symbicort x2 per day + the Spiriva Respimat 2.5mcg 1xper day.. I am now experiencing severe lower back pain/muscle spasms. I purchased a 'back belt' so that I can still walk with my dogs at an off leash park, but if I make one false twitch or move, it feels like I just got hit with an electric prod. I did rest and take it easy for several days, taking Advil like crazy with no relief. Ice packs and/or hot showers and heating pad did nothing. Has anyone experienced severe back pain during the course of taking Symbicort? I'm ready to toss it out the window and go back to Flovent! Any input will be very much appreciated!
