The COPD Foundation recently released a 4-question survey to measure how much our COPD community knew about pneumococcal disease and its vaccination. Over 100 individuals responded - thank you!
We found that approximately 75% of respondents reported having zero knowledge of pneumococcal disease and its risks and 66% have never received the vaccination.
Pneumococcal disease is an infection that can result in pneumonia, infection of the blood, middle-ear infection, or bacterial meningitis. The COPD Foundation is encouraging individuals living with COPD and other at-risk individuals to take the appropriate vaccinations to protect against this potentially deadly disease.
