Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well and having a good start to the new year.
Im wondering if anyone has advice or experience with working in the construction field and having emphysema.
I’m told (still not 100% as my pulmonologist appointment isn’t till March 2) I have mild emphysema from a ct scan I had dec7. Results done by radiologist and my dr so far.
I am currently off work on ei sick leave until after my pulmonologist appointment. I work in commercial tenant construction (inside buildings).
I have worked hard to get to where I am in my career and make good money to provide for my family. I am scared I will no longer be able to work in construction due to the environment. There are a lot of different dust and debris that are terrible for you and no real way to avoid them.
I guess I’m wondering if anyone has any experience in working in construction and what kind of preventative measures you take. If I’m careful and try to only work in areas that there won’t be too much dust debris etc, will it severely affect me or should I not worry about it as long as I’m not working around a dust cloud of hazardous debris (concrete dust, drywall dust, dust from grinding floors, dust from demolition of walls, ceiling, dust from fire spray on ceilings etc…
Thanks
