My dad was diagnosed with severe copd for the last 10years then he had bad exacerbation last March, at first the doctor's diagnosis was pnuemonia and he gave IV antibiotics but refused to give steriods, thinking this might aggravate his pnuemonia, unfortunately my dad develop plueral effusion or fluid in lungs, they thought it was pnuemonia because base on x-rays seems likes its progressing, they were also changing his antibiotics to more potent ones, on his 2nd week of admission he got another bacteria (a hospital acquired bacteria) which makes his condition a lot worse again. Still no steriods, we were so frustrated, so we made the decision to change his attending physician, the 2nd doctor's diagnosis was exacerbation from CPFE, so he immediately prescribe IV Methyprednisone and started my dad with Esbriet (pirfenidone)
right now my dad is out of the hospital but still recovering from all the damages that have done by the first doctor.
anyone who was diagnosed with this?
