am a 50-year-old female (height 5'5") with a 25-year history of cigarette smoking. In January 2025, I experienced a severe episode of COVID-19 with associated bronchitis. In February 2025, while still smoking, I underwent pulmonary function testing (PFT), which showed: FEV₁ 83% predicted, FVC 110% predicted, FEV₁/FVC ratio 60%, and DLCO 86% predicted. I quit smoking in March 2025. In September 2025, I underwent repeat spirometry (results attached), which demonstrated an FEV₁/FVC ratio of 69%.
My question is whether it is possible for the ratio to continue improving and exceed the 70% threshold over time, and whether such improvement is commonly observed after smoking cessation.
