Each year, the COPD Foundation observes November as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, encouraging early diagnosis, and supporting the millions of people and families affected by this chronic lung condition. COPD alone takes more than 150,000 lives each year in the United States and remains the fourth leading cause of death worldwide. Awareness, education, and community engagement are essential to changing this reality.

One of the ways we bring awareness to life is through Lace Up for Lungs, a nationwide movement powered by the COPD Foundation and the Bronchiectasis and NTM Association. Lace Up for Lungs encourages people of all ages and abilities to get active in support of better lung health. Whether it's taking a walk, joining a fitness challenge, or setting a movement goal, every step raises awareness for chronic lung diseases.

With Cipla's continued support, the Lace Up for Lungs campaign is reaching more communities and inspiring greater participation, helping build momentum in the fight against chronic lung disease. This year, Cipla USA once again demonstrated its commitment to lung health by taking part in awareness activities throughout the month and partnering with the COPD Foundation to strengthen education, advocacy, and community engagement. Together, we’re moving toward a future where breathing is easier, and every patient feels supported.

The Blow Art Challenge Returns

Cipla USA Inc., the wholly owned US subsidiary of Cipla, a leading global pharmaceutical company and leader in lung health, celebrated throughout the month of November with activities and events. These included donning vibrant orange attire on "Wear Orange Day," participating in "Lace Up for Lungs," engaging employees with resources and educational materials including guest speakers from the COPD Foundation, and encouraging the Cipla USA community to raise awareness for chronic lung diseases.

One of the highlights of Cipla USA's November activities was the return of its annual Blow Art Challenge. Now in its fifth year, the contest invited employees and their family members to create artwork using a blow painting technique, encouraging creativity while reinforcing the importance of healthy lungs and breathing.

Participants of all ages submitted colorful, thoughtful pieces that ranged from abstract designs to more personal interpretations of breathing, resilience, and strength. The artwork reflected not only talent, but a shared passion for advancing lung health. The winning pieces will be displayed on the Cipla Blow Art Wall at the company's headquarters, serving as a reminder of the collective effort behind this initiative.

COPD continues to impact millions of individuals and families, many of whom remain undiagnosed. Through ongoing partnerships, workplace engagement, and community outreach, Cipla USA and the COPD Foundation remain committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging early screening and support.

With last year's COPD Awareness month behind us, the message remains clear. When people come together, whether through art, movement, learning, or advocacy, real change is possible, and every effort brings us closer to a world where everyone can breathe a little easier.

  • Thank you Cipla for supporting the COPD Foundation and Lung Health. Your Blow Art work is amazing!! I recently researched where my generic medications are manufactured, and about 90% of them are made by Cipla - even those which are not for my COPD. I was surprised.
