On October 8, 2015, the COPD community lost Dr. Pamela Bird of Sandpoint, Idaho at the age of 59.
Dr. Bird was a COPD champion and served on the COPD Foundation Board of Directors. An internationally-recognized commercialization expert, she was the founder and CEO of Innovative Product Technologies Inc., Vice President of the Percussionaire Corporation, and co-founder of the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center. She authored over 70 publications, including the book “Inventing for Dummies,” and founded the Inventors Educational Foundation. Dr. Bird’s passing follows the recent loss of her husband, Dr. Forrest Bird, renowned innovator in the respiratory field.
"Pam was a dear and devoted friend to our community," said John Walsh, co-founder and president of the COPD Foundation. "Her service as a member of the board of the COPD Foundation was an extension of her compassion and commitment to help those with respiratory conditions. She continued to dedicate herself to support her late husband’s work in the respiratory field. Our thoughts and prayers are with her children Rachael and Brandon and their families on the tragic loss of their beloved mother."
The COPD Foundation fondly remembers Drs. Pam and Forrest Bird. We are grateful to their innovative contributions that improved the lives of millions living with COPD.
