Meet Your COPD Foundation Captains!

COPD Foundation Captains are volunteers with COPD, caregivers, friends and family members or healthcare providers who use their contacts and talents and partner with the COPD Foundation to serve as state and community leaders.

Captains promote the importance of becoming a part of the COPD community. They work to spread COPD awareness in their state and local areas, mentor fellow COPD community members, and participate in online and in-person grassroots advocacy and community building activities focused on health policy issues that are important to those who have COPD. If you'd like to speak with a COPD Foundation Captain directly, please email statecaptains@copdfoundation.org and we will connect you with the Captain in your area of interest.

Hello! My name is Anush Bindlish and I am a passionate high schooler who is excited to help support the COPD community. I am originally from North Carolina but I currently live in Texas.

I am excited to join this wonderful group of advocates! Currently, there are many factors such as air pollution and vaping that contribute to COPD, affecting patients' families as well as the community around them. I hope to create a world where COPD doesn’t hold prevalence and control a patient’s way of life. As a COPD foundation captain, I am interested in supporting this community from diagnosis to recovery as well as advocating with policymakers to help increase funding for related research. I am looking forward to working with my local community to help work towards a world where patients and their loved ones feel fully supported and informed throughout their journey battling this condition. I would love to work with local organizations, groups, or anyone with a passion to help battle COPD together.

My favorite quote is "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars!"
