I'm coughing up yellow mucus every morning since July. The mucus is very thick, almost feel like dried silicone that comes up from deep of my lung, but only appears in the morning. After this piece of "silicone" to be coughed up, other mucus I cough up during the day is mostly clear, although more productive and thicker than before.
Did sputum test 3 times and came back with "usual oral flora" with WBC 4+
Also did a course of nasal/sinus treatment and eliminated that possibility although I was pretty sure it was not the root cause in the first place.
Tried Azithromycin early in Aug and all yellow mucus was gone during the 5 days' of treatment, but came back soon after.
My pulmonologist think I don't need to be treated due to the negative result of culture test.
What do you think?
