is anyone else being treated for copd at their VA facility?
I was diagnosed over four years ago and my VA doc gave me Albuterol inhaler, Symbicort and Spiriva.
I didn’t see a big difference. Then as my doc retired my new doctor added a home nebulizer with an Albuterol liquid. It came in the mail and no instructions so I called an old friend with the same condition and he was told it should be used every 4-6 hours
I still did not see a noticeable difference. In July I had two very bad episodes and had to call 911. They released me after administering some antibiotics and I went home two days later.
A few days later and my condition worsened and I was back at the hospital. This time a technician was in my room four times a day with the mask giving more treatments. The hospital (not associated with the VA) would not release me until oxygen cylinders and a home concentrator was delivered to my home.
I’m on 2 liters of O2 all the time including during sleep.
I bought 2 pulse oximeters to keep me at safe levels.
I don’t even know if this is really a question. I haven’t left the house yet. I had my groceries delivered and used my Inogen 1 to drive to the gas station to fill up before Dorian arrived.
Luckily she stayed clear of central Florida.
I sold my Corvette last week and intended to buy a motor home to spend weeks and maybe months near my Son and grandson and now I’m terrified how I can do all this especially doing it alone.
I did not sign up for Medicare part B because I had confidence in the VA.
I’m thinking they are not up to the task. Getting part b will be expensive because I did not sign up at 65. Now 72.
