Hi, everyone! I hope you are all having a good day! I am still not smoking! I lost count of how long it's been but it's been well over a month for sure. Now I have started exercising. I have been sedentary a long time and work at a desk job all day. I want to build up my lungs as best as I can and also get in good physical shape. I've lost 8 pounds and want to lose at least 10 more. I began by long, brisk walks. Then on Monday, I started at the gym after work. I don't feel comfortable yet running. But i use the abdominal machines, leg machines, small weights for my arms, stationary bike and treadmill. These things do increase my heart rate pretty quickly and I do get pretty short of breath once I get going. (Much faster than my fellow gym-goers, I noticed). I was diagnosed with mild copd but I do get winded quickly walking up inclines or walking super fast. Will I get stronger lungs by doing these things? Is there any precautions I should take? or do I just push myself as I feel able? Thanks in advance for any advice!! :)
