Hi, I am new here and I'm hoping to get some help. I am new here and I'm hoping to get some help. I had a month of sob which I have never experienced before. I had chest pains with it. I had to sleep propped up. I felt like I was suffocating at times. Because of a previous near drowning experience, I was terrified. I had never experienced that before. Sometimes it lasted only a few hours, other times it was non stop for several days. In the middle of that I caught a cold or flu with lots of congestion. My mother who I was very closed to had died 3 weeks before, and I thought the sob and chest pain was anxiety and grief. I was alone and didn't want to go into urgent care and catch something worse so I asked my DR for antianxiety meds thinking it was grief. The meds didn't help. I went in to my appointment with Dr who said I probably had had COVID or flu. She sent me for chest X-ray. previous near drowning experience, I was terrified. I had never experienced that before. She said maybe the COPD findings are RAD from being sick a couple weeks prior. She is sending me for a spirometry test. I have an Ahmed Tube for severe glaucoma, partial blindness, severe optic nerve damage, multiple eye surgeries, etc. My concern is it is not a good to take that spirometry test because it can raise the eye pressure. Is there another test I can take instead to determine if the results of the X-ray is COPD or not.
Does this look like COPD? Since I haven't smoked in years, if I do have COPD what are the chances of it not progressing? I'm really scared. Thank you for your help.
