I am not sure what stage as i just found out. On Jan 12 she took a fall on her stairs (due to low blood oxygen levels i was told) and was rushed via ambulance to hospital where they discovered 10 broken ribs, broken shoulderblade and fractured spine. She refused intubation at first and was placed on highest level of nasal oxygen, then upgraded to CPAP she was in pain but communicating like herself aside from some loopiness due to pain meds. She unfortunatley developed pneumonia and they sedated and intubated her. After 3 attempts and 9 days they finally got the tubes out and placed her on oxygen mask and informed me she was doing well and I couldn't be happier after all now she was speaking to me! Having lost my father 9 months ago I couldn't fathom loosing my mother so soon after! well it was short lived. This lasted all of 3 days and then received a call she'd been re-intubated. We are not on day 4 of this they say they are concerned because shes not consistently responsive to commands but no sign of stroke scans came back normal and when i see her she moves legs opens eyes snd even sheds tears and wiggles toes for nurses. Although now not sedated or on pain meds. Pallative care has contacted me today and im pretty scared. Can she come out of this or are we at the end of life.??
