Today I had 4 Zephyr valves inserted into my left lung. Since finding info on patients who have gone through it has been difficult for me, I decided to share what I can in hopes it might help someone else looking for info or trying to make a decision. I'm not saying that my experiences so far are normal or not, just that this is what it's like for me.
I was extremely nervous, anxious, out of my mind scared. Still am, a bit, but the staff has been great at helping me thru it.
I remember getting wheeled into the procedure room, a little banter with everyone, seemed like a kajillion people, and then I woke up in recovery. My biggest complaint at that point was that I had nothing to drink all day(no coffee!) and I was sooo thirsty. Teeny little cup of ice chips. Errrrrg
Some chest tightness, hard to take a deep breath, so they told me not to just yet...just rest. Throat not sore at all so, Room Service!
I've had 3 xrays so far, all is good. I plan on sleeping a whole lot better than last night. And the important thing is that I can have coffee in the morning!
Hope to be able to update you tomorrow, day 2.
