My Mom refuses to go to the hospital anymore & wants to be at home. After her last two visits in hospital, there was no improvement. In fact, her being a nurse, realized they never checked her sputum when she was in there last. She told her doctor & he had a sterilized cup sent to her so she could do that. Of course they had her on the wrong type of antibiotics! Anyway, I'm back here again (fourth visit since March) and I feel she's getting worse. It's hard for her to cough up mucus to make her feel better. Yesterday was a rough day for her & last night too. Any suggestions to get this mucus up?? She doesn't feel like eating much when she can't get this junk out of her lungs. I want to help her so bad!! Any suggestions? I Google so much & we tried the steam with essential oils that are specifcally for breathing, we tried drinking warm water to thin the mucus, and had her doing the huff coughing....finally around 7 pm she coughed up a small amount, but not enough to make her feel better.
