We are working on behalf of GSK to provide a variety of different patients willing to be interviewed about their experiences and symptoms with COPD. Below is the letter from GSK with their criteria:
We are writing to you on behalf of the Research & Development division of GlaxoSmithKline, to request your help. At GSK, we believe the patient-centric medicine innovation should start with learning from patients and taking the patients’ voice, insights and goals into the center of our research.
We recently contacted COPD Foundation about identifying potential patients who would be willing to volunteer to be interviewed about living with moderate or severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), with a focus on how symptoms have worsened during this winter season. We are specifically looking to understand how symptoms change following a viral infection, such as a common cold, with typical symptoms such as coughing, increased breathlessness, impact on lung function, lack of sleep (known as exacerbation), which in some cases may lead to visit to ER to be treated with antibiotics or oral steroids.
The 45 minute interview would be a one to one with a GSK physician. Some additional GSK employees may also observe the discussion and may wish to ask COPD related questions. The interview would be held from mid-February through to early March at our GSK site in King of Prussia, Philadelphia, or if you are unable to travel we are happy to offer a Skype or telephone interview. The interview would be audio recorded and available internally within our organisation, so others will have a chance to learn from your experience.
You will be compensated for your time in taking part in these activities and reimbursed for your travel expenses. Your participation will be covered by a written agreement which will be discussed with you.
We hope that you are interested in participating and contact Bill Clark at wclark@copdfoundation.org or call 866-731-2673 ext. 308
