Any ideas on this problem? I have moved into an apartment building at a senior facility. There is a very strong cleaning in the hallways that gives a strong antiseptic smell in the apartment. When windows were open, the air pressure goes from the window to the apt to the hall, and all is OK. Now that colder weather is here the windows are closed, so the air pressure moves the opposite direction from the hall into the apt.
I purchased a soft long cushion that slides nicely under the door to close off that air flow. But the door's sides and top need gaskets perhaps, and I will be talking to the maintenance person this week.
Does anyone know about air exchangers? I am researching this so that if I make the door air tight, I can get fresh air into the apt with windows closed. Alternatively, I can open the windows for 15 minutes when I get up in the a.m. and again mid-day.
Any thoughts appreciated. I heard someone moved out due to this problem. I put my cleaning stuff and pack of dishwasher detergent pods into nice air-tight canisters, so I can control that.
