Briefly looking back:
I started having intermittent hypoxemia (air hunger, 3-4 times a day, 1-2 hours each time, blue nail, SPO2 90%, randomly appear, not related to exertion) since March this year, and I did not have respiratory symptoms before 7/21 (My PFT has been near normal, don't feel any resistance breathing in and out, hypoxemia was my only symptom). Since 7/21 I started to have yellow mucus and air trapping, I had to continuously use Albuterol 3 times a day to avoid air trapping until I was prescribed with Wixela on 8/15, and I have been on Wixela only since then.
Interestingly, although the air trapping still sometimes happen after the use of bronchodilators, hypoxemia disappeared, and SPO2 even remained normal when I was struggling pushing air out of my lung. And I tried to stop using Albuterol on 8/3 and 8/4, hypoxemia came back in these two days, and disappeared again on 8/5 with the continue of Albuterol. With above tests, I'm pretty sure that both Albuterol and Wixela can mitigate my hypoxemia, and they cannot resolve it, the root cause is still hidden.
My ventilation is getting worse but it doesn't seem to impact my SPO2; diffusion was tested good; and perfusion side I did CTPA and didn't see PE.
I failed to find documents about beta-agonists in hypoxemia treatment, I only know they have the effect of vasodilation and cardiac stimulation, does it actually temporarily improve perfusion through widening the blood vessels in lung?
