hello!
due to horrible medical equipment services here I purchased my own cpap and oxygen concentrator.
the dr had me on cpap with 2 liters oxygen at night. When I got my own equipment I noticed that if you increase the liters of oxygen, the percentage goes down. Does it matter? Is 1 liter of higher percentage oxygen the same as 2 at a lower percentage? My oxygen levels have been so low that I cranked it up to 6 liters and just realized that it’s only putting out like 30% oxygen. I also own a used inogen pulse portable and though that won’t work on cpap, my oxygen levels are higher on it.
this new cpap has Apap setting, which supposedly gives you the right amount of pressure vs it being stuck at one level. Why don’t the dr’s like Apap? I have a sleep study tomorrow night and want to advocate for what I want before they write a new prescription.
so, should I switch to their oxygen concentrator? I seem to recall that theirs also put out lower percentage of oxygen at higher levels. What about the cpap? Have any of you used bipap? Is there a separate test for that? I seem to have trouble getting the air out of me. My carbon dioxide levels are also high.
I’ve had all their tests and yet they still argue over if I need day oxygen. The overnight test on cpap with oxygen I was sat in the low 70’s. My lowest recorded in sleep study was 59%. About 1/3 of my events are not obstructed. During the day I sit at about 88-91, but if I start moving around or use the stairs I drop into the 70’s. I’m losing feeling on the right side of my body, these dr’s don’t care. My pulmonologist is on maternity leave. When I google oxygen sats in the 70’s or 80’s it says seek emergency help now. The er sent me home twice this way. At what level am I at risk for damage? Thx
