When I was first put on the oxygen therapy they told me 2lt 24/7. My job was extremely physical and a lot of heavy lifting, so I was out on unpaid medical leave. Through a long process of trying to get disability I was denied and was about to lose my medical benefits that I would not be able to afford through cobra. I pleaded with my Dr to take the ( no heavy lifting and no physical exertion restrictions) off so I could go back to work. So I was using the oxygen at home when my levels were low but I couldn’t use the canisters at work around all the heavy equipment and couldn’t be tethered to the canister. I was able to manage my levels with my inhalers for a while. Not great but enough for me to keep working. Eventually I started to have to get more and more of my shifts covered and my company put me on a fit for duty leave of absence. After I was sent to a Doctor of the company ‘s choosing he declared me unfit for duty. I think I was in denied and was not ready to admit that I couldn’t do my job. That was back in September 2017, I was just approved for disability. I went through a long stretch of depression and I don’t leave the house very often. I do find myself getting weaker because I sit around a lot by myself and I am not active. I think I need to find a pulmonary therapy/ education program ( any information about how to find something like that would be great) I also had a scare last week, I just walked to the bathroom and by the time I got back to the living room my oxygen dropped to 73, I put my oxygen on and took my inhaler and it came back up to 90. I told my Primary Dr the next day and she said I should have gone to the hospital. I asked her what they would do beside putting me on oxygen (which I had done at home). She didn’t really give me a clear answer, so I am confused about when I should go to the hospital if I can get my oxygen back up with my oxygen at home and my inhaler.
