I have been put on Oxygen for almost 2 years now (2 LPM resting) and most of this time I have been coughing up a lot of mucus. I have had pneumonia twice this year. For about the last 4 months I have been using a nebulizer with Ipratropium-Albuterol 3 times per day and I have noticed this. I have very little mucus that I cough up. I have also noticed a change in my SpO2 percentage readings. Before when I woke up at night and early in the morning my SpO2 percentage would be 94-96, but in the last month it’s been 96-98. Even during the day I will check my SpO2 percentage when resting and it will be 96-98.
I was taking Carvedilol twice daily and my new cardiologist changed it to Diltiazem once daily. Another cardiologist in the same office said I could try cutting some of my meds in half and I told him I couldn’t cut the Diltiazem because it was a capsule, so he said take it every other day. I did that for a few days and decided just not to take it at all. I have been checking my blood pressure and its fine.
Another pill I stopped taking is Atorvastatin because some of its side effects.
I'm thinking it must be because of these changes in the last few months. Anyone else have positive changes in your SpO2 readings?
