Hello, just joined. I wondered if somebody could help me with a query.
I was told I probably have COPD awhile ago and I’m awaiting a test to find out for certain, but in the meantime, my Dr has given me a daily use inhaler. He mentioned at the time that either using it or not using it will prove if I do in fact have COPD. I cannot remember which way round he said, if it was “If it helps you then you don’t have COPD” or “If doesn’t help you, you have COPD”
It sounded a bit odd to me, which is why I didn’t really take it in. I have been diagnosed with a slight prolapse in the bottom of my right lung, the x-ray showed up a line right across, they said that the bottom 1/3 of my right lung has stuck together, apparently it has been like it for at least five years (although I was never told after any x-ray I had 5 years ago 😡🤔) so it means that there is nothing they can do about it. I also had multiple extensive bilateral PEs in my lungs three years ago, it caused infarctions, and there is evidence of ground glass. Would both the stuck lung, infarctions and ground glass also be classed as COPD?
Ever since the PEs (which included a DVT in my left leg as well) I have been very breathless walking upstairs, walking distances, especially if talking at the same time as walking, doing some housework makes me breathless. These are all of the reasons why they want me to take the test to see if I have COPD. I am not an expert, but I would have thought if you only have basically 1 normal lung and the other is only 2/3s it will cause breathlessness?
Any suggestions?
