She also suffers from Afib which they had previously been able to control with Cardioversion. About 2 weeks ago they decided to do an ablation to control the Afib. It was successful and she was released to a skilled nursing facility. While there she became very depressed, stopped eating, and was unable to care for herself. She was extremely weak and no walking at all. After a week she insisted she be taken to the hospital because as she said “I won’t make it through the night”. She was transported and found to have pneumonia and fluid on her heart. They extracted the fluid this morning and the doctor advised they had the Afib under control. However, the nurse called this afternoon to advise she was back in Afib. A case manager called and mentioned going to back to the rehab which I know she will refuse to do. No one has mentioned hospice. I really feel like she is barely hanging on but considering no one has mentioned it makes me think she is doing better than we think. I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with COPD and Afib and/or when it’s the right time of hospice. Thank you.
