My doctor said my baseline lung function is just a little below normal and improved a lot after they gave me an inhaler. She prescribed Albuterol. I have mild wheezing since I quit smoking 3 years ago and that's why I went for the pulmonary function test. It's not clear to me why I have this diagnosis and not just asthma or just COPD. My doctor said the test results were consistent with mild asthma but since I'm in my 40s and smoked that it's COPD. Is there some way I can find out more about this and what I can do to try to improve or keep my lung function steady? My doctor said there's no way to know what will happen, and that I might stay healthy or the COPD might progress rapidly. I don't know how worried I should be about this and it's driving me crazy!
