I am a 75 year old vet with COPD. My primary provider is the Spokane VA which as been without a pulmonoligist for over two years now.
Unfortunately, I know more about my condition than my primary care doc. I've been told it's a budget drive problem and will not be fixed any time soon.
I'm on social security and a small Vietnam era pension so private care is not an affordable option. I'm also covered by Medicare but even having to co-pay the 20 percent fee is not an option.
It used to be that the VA would cover the cost of outsourced medical care but with this administration that is no longer the case.
So my question is: how do I get treatment? Realizing that exercise is important, I am on a pulmonary rehab program and have joined a vet friendly gym, which is the extent of my treatment.
Any suggestions, and or answers to my problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Roge
