My father (79yrs old) called me to let me know he went to the E.R a week ago due to a cough that hasn't went away. He's had it for about 3 months now (went to the walk in in April and Dr concluded it was asthma). So, he told me at the ER they diagnosed him with chronic bronchitis. I'm new to all of this so immediately started researching on google (not a good idea). Anyways, he was told to follow up with a pulmonologist within 2 days which he never did because I usually handle all of his medical appts. I will be calling first thing in the morning. Sorry this is very long! He said they didn't run any tests, just an xray and they had him use a nebulizer. One of my concerns is that he works as an exterminator and was wondering if is safe?? Not sure when he will get seen, I'm calling the specialist on Monday. I saw him today after not seeing him for a week due to me being on vacation, and he was coughing a bit and I noticed he was out of breath a little after being outside (no running or anything, just playing around with my 2 year old son). Other concerns are his quality of life...he quit smoking 5 years ago, exercises a few times a week, and eats well. He's not over weight, and no other health problems. I'm very nervous for ams honestly afraid of what I've read online about this disease. Any feedback will be great. Thank you all so much.
